I have been going to Disney for most of my life. It is my happy place. The one place that always brings me joy and feels like home. Part of that joy is in knowing I can go to Disney and enjoy it while living with a mobility struggle from chronic illness.
Disney has worked hard to make their parks all-inclusive to their guest. I have spent many hours not only going to Disney but asking questions and learning from cast members and other guests. Today I want to share 3 of my best tips for doing Epcot’s International Food & Wine Festival. these tips have helped me many times over the years.
3 Full Proof Tips for Doing Epcot’s International Food & Wine Festival
Make A Plan
One of the first things I tell my clients when planning a trip to the Food & Wine Festival is to make a plan. This plan will look different for each family depending on your personal situation. With that said every plan should include a budget and a plan of action meaning read up on what is offered food-wise and choose the things you most want to try. Other planning items can include ECV/wheelchair rentals, rest breaks, and of course knowing where the bathrooms are. I list a lot of these resources in my resource guides.
Book A Room
I know what you are thinking why do I need a room. Well first off the Florida heat is intense and I don’t know about you but when I get hot I get tired. Having a room on the property allows me the opportunity to go back to shower, cool down, and recharge to take on all the fun evening events like Harmonious the new evening show at EPCOT.
Plus if you are like me and enjoy pairing a few adult beverages with all the delicious food having a room on the property makes life easier for you and your family. It is also safer for you and your family because you will not need to drive anywhere because Disney provides free transportation. It’s a win-win you get to eat your way around the world and then nap on the way back to your room while someone else drives.
Go Early/Stay Late
This tip seems like a no-brainer but many people overlook it. My best tip for clients doing Disney with a mobility struggle or chronic illness is to go early because crowds tend to be lower as everyone is trying to get on rides. Along with temps being cooler. I have mentioned multiple times the intense heat in Florida so going early helps to avoid this.
Stay late. If you are not an early bird then consider staying late. The sun is going down, the heat is lessening and the lights are up. There is nothing more stunning than EPCOT at night. Plus you get to enjoy all the evening fun.
Final Tip
Finally, the biggest tip I can give you is to have fun and be adventurous. Don’t be afraid to try something new just because you can’t pronounce it. not being able to say it doesn’t mean it’s not delicious. So go have fun, eat, be merry and most of all make memories that last forever.
EPCOT International Food and Wine Festival runs from July 14, 2022, all the way to November 19, 2022!
