Do you start your morning off by hitting the snooze button? Is it a mad dash to getting while stumbling over kids backpack and rushing to get breakfast on the table. Maybe your that person who grabs a doughnut and coffee as they rush to meetings.
What if you could change that routine so that mornings are calm. You would wake up knowing that you had time to eat a healthy breakfast and to get everyone out the door without rushing around like a mad person. I personally prefer the latter.
These simple tips can get you starting the morning off right…
- Wake up earlier
Skip the snooze button. It really doesn’t give you more sleep. It just has you snoozing and knowing you have to get up. When it does sound it only causes you to become annoyed for sleeping later. Instead, start the morning off right by setting the alarm for 15 minutes early and give yourself a little wiggle room to stretch and enjoy the morning. - Do a stretching routine
Perform some easy stretching exercises. An easy stretching routine consisting of a few easy to perform yoga poses can help get blood following to your muscles. It also helps to focus your mind, body, and breath to prepare you for the day ahead. - Wake with a smile and positive thought
As soon as you wake up a smile. Smiling helps to release feel-good endorphins. IF you can’t smile then think of something positive like how wonderful it is to greet another day. Take it a step further ask yourself these 2 questions. What am I grateful for today? What am I going to today? - Meditate
Start your day with stillness by meditating in the morning. Meditating does everything from improving your focus to reducing stress, improving emotional stability, and preventing common health ailments. You can start simply by focusing on your breath for three minutes each morning, and build from there. - Eat a healthy breakfast
You’ve already heard this a thousand times, but I’m going to say it again: breakfast is the most important meal of the day. A healthy breakfast consists of lean protein, whole grains, and healthy fats. You’ll gain all of the following benefits of eating a healthy breakfast. You’ll have more focus and consternation, have more energy and be less hungry,
Your morning habits can make or break your day. The five tips given above won’t guarantee you won’t walk out the door without your car keys but they can help in making your mornings less rushed. As you practice them and they become a routine for you you’ll see a vast improvement in your mood and your time management.
