Disneyland will finally reopen at the end of this month! I almost can’t believe it and I can hardly contain my excitement about the return of the very first Disney theme park. The date set for the Disneyland reopening is April 30. On the 29th of April Disney’s Grand Californian, Hotel and Spa will finally open as well. The reopening of Disneyland resort at the end of this month includes one hotel and both parks. Disneyland Hotel and Paradise Pier Hotel will open up at a later unannounced date. Disneyland Park and the Grand Californian are the newest additions in a phased reopening process. That process saw a partial return of Disney’s California Adventure Park and the return of Downtown Disney 9 months ago. This is all very exciting, but there are some things you should know about the Disneyland reopening we anxiously anticipate within the next four weeks.
Disneyland Reopening Date and How to Get Tickets
New Operating Guidelines for Disneyland Reopening
When Disneyland reopens at the end of this month, there are going to be a lot of changes. It won’t be the Disneyland we remember. Several elements we have come to love about Disneyland will be removed or suspended. Fastpass and MaxPass are two examples. Expect a lot more mobile ordering for food and a lot less entertainment. certain attractions that bring large groups are closed or suspended until further notice and character meet and greets are canceled with alternative character experiences at a safe physical distance.
Contactless transactions, heightened cleaning procedures, pre-screening, face makes and physical distancing are all part of the new Disneyland operating guidelines. In addition to temperature checks and mandatory face coverings, the parks will allow fewer guests at one time.
How to Get Tickets
Because of the limited capacity, expect tickets to be more expensive. In order to enforce the new capacity limits, Disney will require registering for a reservation after purchasing your tickets. Tickets alone won’t guarantee admission. It’s also unlikely that park hopper tickets will be permitted, so you must decide which of the two parks you want to visit each day of your visit.
As for the date that tickets go on sale, we still don’t know. Tickets will only be available for California residents. If the past is any indication, Legacy Pass Holders will not get special treatment, so it’s fair game for whoever is fastest. Check the Disneyland website often and refresh regularly so you don’t miss the moment tickets go live. The website is likely to crash soon after, so stay sharp!
Most important of all make sure to contact your travel agent to book due to changes and limited capacity.
