When traveling looking for and finding the best deals on hotels can be time-consuming. Searching online for hotels to book that are in a safe area, with good reviews, that are within your budget can prove to be a bit time-consuming at times. If you are traveling to an area that you don’t know and aren’t familiar with, doing your research is key. Who wants to spend top dollar for a hotel, when that hotel isn’t truly worth paying top dollar for?
There are so many ways to find great deals for hotels, with great reviews that anyone can save money easily when booking their next hotel stay! All it takes is a little know-how and some easy tips from someone who loves to travel and know that research is key to having a safe, affordable, and fun trip.
How to Find the Best Deals When Booking Hotels
Tip #1
Call the hotel directly and ask them if they have any specials or deals that they can offer. Many times, if there are rooms that aren’t booked on the day of the night you are hoping to stay, the front desk may be able to offer a discount to earn a bit of revenue for that room rather than not earn any money on it by leaving it vacant.
Tip #2
When booking your room, ask, and see if they offer any other discounts on top of the price that you are paying. AAA discounts, military discounts, and senior citizen discounts are all typically common in the hotel industry and can save you some serious money sometimes. Who wouldn’t want an extra 10-20% off of their lodging fee?
Tip #3
Always check prices online. Big websites like Priceline and Expedia offer some really competitive rates that you can’t always get by booking directly through the hotel. Priceline even has a great option where you can “Name your own Price”. If you’ve never used this tool, it’s an awesome one to keep in your back pocket. Not only can you narrow down the area of the town that you are wanting to stay in, but you can also even choose the star-ranking of the hotel that you want to lodge at as well.
While naming your own price is an amazing way to save some money, it’s never guaranteed that your “bid” will be accepted and you actually don’t know what hotel you will be staying at until you pay. Don’t let that intimidate you! If you choose the star-rating that you want (I typically choose 3.5 stars and above), then you can at least rest easy knowing that your head will be resting on a pillow in a hotel that has good reviews and in an area of town that you wanted to be in. Using the “Name your own Price” feature on Priceline can save you some serious money on room fees! That’s a saving to definitely consider!
Tip #4
Book your stay during the week rather than on the weekend. Weekend time at hotels means big bucks and booking a room on the weekend. This doesn’t truly leave much wiggle room to get a cheaper rate. If your travel dates can be altered around a bit, why not plan your trip more during the week so you can take advantage of saving money on your hotel stay?
Tip #5
Check with the local convention bureau to see if they have any coupons that they offer for certain hotels. Many times the local convention centers are also tasked with promoting travel and tourism. They may have additional discounts and offers for certain hotels that they can give out to inquisitive tourists. Even if they don’t have any, they may know of some places in town that offer great rates or deals that they can pass on to you.
Final Thoughts
Finding great deals on hotels doesn’t have to be overly stressful or difficult. The internet has made it extremely easy to look up, compare, and search for the best rates possible. Don’t always take the first discounted rate that you get the best rate out there. Keep searching until you are presented with an offer that you are comfortable with. Remember, it’s your budget that you are trying to stay in to make your hotel costs low. Compare hotels, and travel sites to ensure that you are getting the best bang for your buck when considering what hotel is best for you. Once you get that deal you are looking for, book it. Pat yourself on the back for being patient, persistent, and saving money on your hotel costs!
