It’s no secret I love to read and that seeing books come to life can be so rewarding. When I heard Disney brought Flora & Ulysses to life in a movie I was so excited. Having read this book in the past I knew it had much to offer. Not just to the young kids that would read it but to adults as well.
Seeing this book come to life on the screen was everything I hoped it would be and more. It reminded me of how beautiful life can be if we just look around us. As someone who believes in finding joy in everyday life Flora & Ulysses reminded me of what life could offer.
Powerful Life Lessons We Learn With Flora & Ulysses
Love Come In Many Forms
One of the prominent themes I took away from this movie was love comes in many forms. It also isn’t always obvious. When Flora rescues Ulysses they form a deep friendship and bond. As the movie progresses Flora begins to understand just how much her dad loves. We also see the mother who struggles with letting people in start to open up. Throughout the movie, you get to see love blossom in many forms.
True Friends Can Give You Courage
Throughout the movie, there are many examples of how friendship helps people find their courage. We see Flora’s faith in Ulysses bring out his inner strength though he is small. Ulysses’ love for Flora helps her to be courageous and find hope again. The dad’s friendship with a neighbor gives him the courage to fight for the love of his life. Flora and Williams’s friendship give William the courage to fight. Throughout the movie, we see that true friendship can give you the courage to face fears, be strong, and ultimately be courageous.
Anyone Can Be A Superhero
In order to have a superhero, you must first have to have a villain. In truth, anyone can be a superhero and you don’t need super strength or the ability to fly to be one. You just need the ability to overcome your nemesis. We see in this movie that an ordinary squirrel accomplished great deeds to be a superhero. We all can be superheroes in our own life by overcoming the “evil” that plagues us. Things like self-doubt, self-worth, and negativity. By being positive, showing our self self-love and self-care we become the superheroes in our own life.
