A few years back before the pandemic I was blessed to have been invited for a weekend stay at St. George Inn. Located on the corner of St. George Street in historic St. Augustine this inn was perfect. Between location and service this slce of paradise was everything I could have hoped for.
Nestled in the quiet courtyard of City Gate Plaza, The St. George Inn is a unique hotel offering what I have learned is a European-style lodging in the heart of the Nation’s Oldest City. This is the perfect place to begin your exploration of St. Augustine, Florida.
Why St. George Inn Is The Perfect Place
Location, Location, Location
One of the biggest things I have learned in my travels especially traveling with MS it’s that location is everything. Location is key for many reasons especially for me. I loved where St. George Inn is located right on St. George street. I was able to leave my room and walk to shops, restaurants, and event attractions. There was even access to trolley pick stations. This was a real benefit as I get tired easily in the afternoon.
Rooms
The rooms are beautiful. The right amount of old mixed with new. The views from the balcony are EPIC. With spacious rooms for couples to suites for families, St. George Inn has something for everyone. The selling point for me was the bathroom with a walk-in shower.
Another great thing about this Inn is it has an elevator. Unlike some Inns that are older or haven’t renovated St. George Inn is equipped to handle any mobility issue. This was a high point for me. I liked that I could get to my room without having to take stairs.
Food and Wine
You may recall that anything that involves food has my full attention. I, after all, am a self-proclaim foodie. So I was excited to see what type of food would be offered as part of the breakfast. Let’s just say you won’t go away hungry on your adventures. The morning buffet is served from 8-11 AM yes moms we can sleep in. The buffet included oatmeal, fruit, yogurt, bagels, meats and cheese, and my favorite breakfast bread (my excuse for eating dessert for breakfast).
In the evening Bin 39 opens. The exclusive wine bar of St George Inn. No, you don’t have to be a guest to enjoy either wine but I hear guests get a discount so there is that. Now I admit I don’t know a lot about wine but from the bottles on the wall, I could tell this is the place to be.
Service
Still, need convincing this is the place to stay. Well if the location, beautiful rooms, and food haven’t convinced you then maybe the service will. From the moment we walked in we were greeted with smiles and people who wanted to help. Not only did the girls come out and unload my car she took my bags to my room for me.
On top of that every time, I came down to do something someone was there to greet me and ask if I needed anything. I felt like I was a VIP guest. But that is how they treat all their guest which is awesome.
Be sure to book your stay soon.
